When I saw this vid by Khameleon808 I just had to share it…

At 15-minutes long, it isn’t for the feint-hearted in one sitting – you’ll see when the video kicks in that it’s pretty full-on. However, the sheer amount of work that went into this video is just amazing. Here’s a few reasons why I love it:

1. The music really drives the editing, it’s not just cut to the beat, the movement of the action on screen imitates the sound too. As Kham says: “I wanted to relate sound to motion. So each and every cut you see was picked for a reason.”

2. Clip selection. Absolutely perfect – not only does every clip fit with the music, but the vid manages to portray different moods whilst still maintaining the overall ‘glitch’ feel, simply by placing more prolonged, sweeping clips when the music allows.

3. Understatement. Not a word you might expect to be used with a vid as brash as this, but I love that it’s just pure, raw editing. It’s not about flashy effects, blends and fades and the (rather annoying) tendendency of many vidders to overlay several clips. It’s just a stripped-back exercise to see what you can do with the ‘cut’ tool and it’s all the better for it.

If you enjoy the vid, please leave some feedback for Khameleon808 on the video – any comments on the rec/my thoughts, please leave them below :-D
