Becky’s Comments:First and foremost, this vid is a love story – it’s still Darcy and Elizabeth, but with a twist that puts different pressures on their love for each other. As such, I’ve tried to make sure that the effects don’t take over from the emotion and the story which, for me, is the most important part of this vid.
I’ve been thinking about this vid ever since I started seeing all the ‘horror’ parody books appearing on the high street. My boyfriend bought me ‘Mr Darcy, Vampyr’ for what he thought was a joke, when I started a new job so that I could read it on my 1 hour commute to and from work. I wasn’t that impressed with it, to be honest, but my vidding muse didn’t wane and this vid was still on the agenda.
During my long vidding hiatus, I spent some time learning After Effects, which is very powerful special effects software, basically Photoshop for video. I had so much fun learning and combining techniques to turn Darcy into a vampire!! I did a rough edit of the whole vid first, then worked on individual clips to add fangs, blood and so on. I’m hoping to do a short showreel of all the effects I used, as some are much more subtle than others (Lizzie’s cold breath after touching Darcy’s chilly hand, for example) – watch this space!
I hope you enjoy it – please leave me some feedback!

This was an amazing video. I LOVED the new angle that you brought onto the classic story; turning Darcy into a victorian vampire. Brilliant! The building up of the story, tone and atmosphere was amazing. I actually felt like I was reading an AU fanfic. I could see Darcy first noticing Elizabeth and becoming enthralled, first with her vitality and blood, and then with her spirit and mind. And I also loved the way that Elizabeth noticed something a little 'off' about Darcy, then, terrified and fearful, realized exactly what it was that set him apart from other mortals… and then finally deciding that she loved and trusted him regardless of his monstrous habits. The ending was BEAUTIFUL! It was gorgeous seeing how the two of them have maintained their love and joy in each other far beyond mortal years. It was clear that most of their enjoyment in living forever in derived from enjoying the years and ages TOGETHER. Thank you for the amazing video. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.
